FAQ'S

Can I keep the fish I catch?
Any edible fish of legal size and limit are yours to keep. All in edible fish will be
released.

What if I want to mount of my fish?
I am a representative for Gray Taxidermy one of the largest in the world. I would be happy to help you get a replica mount of your catch.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel 7 days prior to the trip you will receive a full refund. If the trip is canceled by the captain (weather, mechanical, sickness) you will again receive your money back.

What about tipping?

Tipping is customary not mandatory but it is appreciated. A normal tip is just like wait staff in a restaurant 15 - 20 % of the trip cost based of course on your service.

What about rough weather?
The Keys unique geography offers some great shelter from most winds but there will be some days that are not possible. In that case a full refund will be given, but weather calls are made by the captain.

What about safety equipment and your qualifications?
I am a 50 ton master operator. The Third Generation is equipped with all coast guard required safety gear as well as two VHF marine radios, two Global Positioning Systems(GPS) and radar.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?
You are welcome to bring your own but I do have gear from 10 lbs to 80 lbs. Fly fisherman please bring your own fly rods and flies.

What do I need to bring on board with me for my day of fishing?
You will need to bring whatever you want to eat or drink, I have coolers and ice. You will also need to bring sun block, polarized sunglasses, light jacket, camera and bags to take your catch home.

What about the trip times and length of trips?
A half day is 4 hours a 3/4 day is 6 hours a full day is 8 hours and in reference to time of departure they often can be changed to fit your schedule.

What if we want to snorkel or dive?
Quite often we are not far from some great snorkeling spots (like shallow reefs or Looe Key) and it's easy and fun. Please bring all your own snorkel gear or I can suggest where to rent it.

Is rain gear necessary?
It's always a good idea to be prepared for rain in the tropics.  

What experience level is necessary?
I fish anglers from age of 5 to 90. I enjoy all anglers.  

How many anglers can I fish?
I am licensed for 6 but prefer 4. Certain types of fishing are more forgiving than others. Talk to me about it.

Are alcoholic beverages permitted?
Yes...It's your charter I just ask that you drink responsibly and please no glass.

Are bait and licenses provided?
I provide the bait and the licenses

What type of payment do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Checks or cash. You will need to send a $150 check for your deposit to hold the day you would like to fish. Make checks payable to Third Generation Charters.

How do I set up my trip?
First, call and make sure the day is available. Then send a check or give me a credit card to hold the reservation day.
